Position Summary
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector seeks a Sr. Principal Responsible Engineer – Fuel Systems with experience in aircraft fuel subsystems development to join our team in Melbourne, FL. Fully onsite; no remote work available.

- Perform responsible engineer activities, including all aspects of fuel subsystem/component design and development such as trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting. This also includes participating on a subcontractor management team and acting as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement.
- Perform system‑related analysis, such as performance simulation, to support development of the fuel subsystem and integration with other aircraft subsystems.
- Plan and support system level test execution, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct system level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.
- Attend internal program, customer, and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
- Sr. Principal Responsible Engineer – Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline AND 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM AND 6 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in STEM AND 4 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, plus any required program access within a reasonable period of time.
- Professional experience related to the development and integration of fuel subsystems or components in commercial or military aircraft applications.
- Master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with focus on thermodynamic, fluid mechanic, and/or heat transfer disciplines.
- Experience with aircraft subsystem development, including requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advanced aircraft.
- Experience performing thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer analysis related to military/commercial aircraft and subsystems.
- Experience modeling fluid systems using Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+ software.
- Familiarity with NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM.
- Experience with the military airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK‑516.
- Familiarity with fuel system aircraft installation per MIL‑F‑17874.
- Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.
- Experience supporting pursuits and proposals, including generating, reviewing, and approving technical proposals and BOEs.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership related to integrated product teams, including supplier and customer relations.
- Demonstrated participation in mentoring activities.
Primary Level Salary Range: $ – $ (general guideline; actual offer based on experience, education, skills and market conditions).
