Overview
Senior Civil Land Development Engineer sought for our Melbourne, FL office. The role covers civil engineering work across grading, site plans, roads, utilities, and stormwater on local, state, and federal projects, including planning, design-bid-build, and design-build engagements. Travel to federal projects in the U.S. may be required.
Responsibilities- Perform project design and provide direction to junior engineers, CAD designers, or technicians.
- Plan and review the production of engineering drawings and specifications.
- Plan and review investigations or planning work for projects.
- Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives and selecting cost-effective solutions.
- Analyze technical problems, assess feasibility of techniques, and devise alternative approaches.
- Analyze project scopes and prepare or oversee cost and manpower estimates, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate work with the project manager and guide junior professionals on design and drafting of preliminary and final plans.
- Ensure quality control and maintain quality standards in all produced work; review computations and designs by others.
- May occasionally manage projects and perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
- B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering.
- Seven to ten years of relevant experience. Florida and Brevard County experience is a plus; federal project experience is a plus.
- Experience with roadways, sanitary sewers, water distribution systems, storm drain facilities, site grading, stormwater management, earthwork, erosion & sediment control, environmental compliance, ADA compliance, and/or pavement markings & signage.
- Florida P.E. license preferred; ability to obtain Florida licensure through FBPR/NCEES.
- Ability to lead civil engineering projects including construction plans, specifications, and design calculations.
- Ability to conduct periodic site visits, respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and related activities.
- AutoCAD and Civil 3D knowledge required;
Project Wise, Bluebeam, SharePoint, and MS Project knowledge a plus. - Ability and willingness to work on private, municipal, state and federal projects.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
