Mechanical Engineer (3–5 Years Experience) Company Description
Manifest Engineering, Inc. is an advanced engineering and product development company focused on designing, analyzing, and commercializing innovative composite structures and manufacturing technologies. Founded in 2023 by Dr. Codrington Barzey, the company partners with clients ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies to develop lightweight, high-performance solutions across the infrastructure, transportation, marine, aerospace, automotive, and industrial sectors.
Our work extends well beyond traditional engineering consulting. We take products from concept through engineering, prototyping, testing, manufacturing development, and commercialization. Every project presents a unique engineering challenge and an opportunity to develop new technologies that solve real‑world problems.
As a growing, research‑driven company, Manifest Engineering offers a collaborative environment where engineers are encouraged to think creatively, work hands‑on, and make meaningful contributions to products that are built, tested, and deployed in the field.
Role DescriptionThis is a full‑time, on‑site Mechanical Engineer position based in Melbourne, Florida.
The Mechanical Engineer will work directly with company leadership to design, analyze, prototype, and validate advanced composite structures and mechanical systems. Responsibilities include developing CAD models and engineering drawings, performing structural calculations and finite element analysis (FEA), supporting material selection and manufacturing process development, and assisting with prototype fabrication and testing.
The role spans the complete product development cycle—from initial concept generation through design optimization, manufacturing validation, and physical testing. Engineers will work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal team members while contributing to technical reports, project planning, and research initiatives.
Because of the wide variety of projects, no two weeks are the same. Candidates should enjoy solving challenging engineering problems, working hands‑on with prototypes, and developing practical solutions for complex applications.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- 3–5 years of mechanical design or product development experience
- Strong foundation in mechanics of materials, structural analysis, and machine design
- Proficiency with Solid Works or similar 3D CAD software
- Experience developing detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with customers and project teams
- Experience with composite materials and sandwich structures
- Hands‑on experience with prototype fabrication and structural testing
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including composites, machining, welding, or fabrication
- Experience planning and executing engineering test programs
- Programming experience (MATLAB, Python, or similar) is a plus
The ideal candidate is naturally curious, enjoys learning new technologies, and isn't afraid to tackle engineering challenges that don't have textbook solutions. We value engineers who are equally comfortable working in CAD, performing analysis, building prototypes in the shop, and interacting directly with customers.
