Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Principal Electrical Engineer, specializing in Aircraft Ground and Flight Test to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Lab Test and Engineering Organization (LTEO). This role is located in Melbourne, FL. In this LTEO role, you will be supporting aircraft systems development and qualification within a laboratory environment. Duties will consist of assisting with laboratory design, test planning and preparation, scheduling of test events, and leading the execution of test procedures.

In this role you will also ensure test stations and assets are available and ready to test by deploying software and configuring hardware on test stations. In addition, you will work closely with Quality Assurance to maintain and validate test station software and hardware. Additional duties will be contributing to test readiness reviews, conducting briefings, performing acceptance testing and integration events.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support development and integration of subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectives
  • Lead test events ranging from developmental to formal testing
  • Establish and maintain standards of test conduct and rigor
  • Effectively manage lab configuration through detailed documentation
  • Accurately communicate lab and test status to leadership via written and oral means
  • Troubleshoot component and system level issues/discrepancies

This position mainly operates on our 9/80 schedule, which means you will have every other Friday off, however, shift schedules are flexible and can change to meet customer demands. There will be phenomenal learning opportunities, and exposure to a wide variety of projects and customers, all while working in a very friendly team environment.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Electrical Engineer Must have a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 5 years of related experience in Engineering, OR 3 Years with Masters, OR 1 Year with PhD. Must have an Active, In-Scope US government Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 5 years.

Experienced using test equipment, such as digital multimeters, O-scopes, power supplies, etc. Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills Experienced in reading and comprehending schematic diagrams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)
  • Experienced with Electronic Principles, MIL STD protocol for 1553, 429, and 1394 busses.
  • Experience in Aircraft Ground Test and Operations.
  • Familiarity with avionics systems and equipment.
  • Experience with software deployments and deployments tools.
