Position: Staff RF Electronics Engineer

Staff RF Electronics Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff RF Electronics Engineer based in United States.

This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on the development and integration of advanced RF subsystems supporting mission-critical aerospace and defense platforms. You will contribute to the full systems engineering lifecycle, from requirements development and trade studies through integration, testing, and verification. The role combines RF technical expertise with systems engineering, supplier management, risk analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work across communications and RF technologies spanning VHF through Ka bands, including airborne military applications.

A key part of the position involves evaluating subsystem performance, troubleshooting hardware, and validating requirements through laboratory, ground, and flight testing. You will interact directly with engineers, program leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical stakeholders to drive successful program outcomes. This role is based in Melbourne, Florida, with a 9/80 schedule offering every other Friday off, and requires an active or obtainable Top Secret clearance.

Accountabilities:

  • Support the development, integration, and verification of communications and other RF subsystems and components designed to meet platform mission objectives.
  • Develop, analyze, mature, and implement system requirements, translating customer needs into derived specifications and technical requirements.
  • Conduct detailed technical trade studies and performance analyses to support engineering and program decisions.
  • Perform risk analysis, develop mitigation strategies, and track identified risks through closure.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, program stakeholders, customers, management, and cross-functional technical teams.
  • Develop and maintain supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, statements of work, and technical evaluation criteria.
  • Provide technical management of strategic suppliers and program partners, including acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration, and test activities.
  • Review supplier development documentation and participate in technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and supplier technical evaluations.
  • Identify, plan, and execute informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in laboratory environments, including hardware troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Support aircraft ground and flight testing to validate and verify subsystem requirements and complete requirement sell-off activities.
  • Support technical discussions with customers and maintain regular interaction with internal and external technical and programmatic representatives.
  • Apply systems engineering methods including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation, and interface control documentation.
  • Contribute to the successful integration of RF subsystem performance, requirements, interfaces, and verification activities across the broader platform.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 12+ years of related engineering experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 10+ years, or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 8+ years of related engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electromagnetics across the RF spectrum, from VHF through Ka bands.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, select, characterize, and analyze RF components to meet mission objectives.
  • Experience designing, integrating, testing, installing, or operating LOS and BLOS communication systems in airborne military applications is highly relevant.
  • Experience with voice, military, and network waveforms, cryptographic implementations, or RF antenna and component design and performance analysis.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation, and interface control documentation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, including the required background investigation or Continuous…
