  • Serve as the primary technical authority for complex avionics installations, troubleshooting, and customer support across field service operations
  • Independently diagnose and resolve system failures and integration issues across flight management systems, displays, GPS navigators, and autopilots
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action on escalated issues
  • Execute complex installations and upgrades at customer sites, dealer facilities, and OEM production lines
  • Conduct post-installation flight testing and validation for regulatory compliance and customer specifications
  • Mentor and train Service Engineers at every level
  • Review and approve work on complex installations
  • Serve as on-site technical lead for multi-engineer projects and customer training events
  • Develop installation standards, service bulletins, and technical documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement in service delivery
  • Partner with engineering to turn recurring field issues into design and process improvements
  • Serve as primary liaison for key accounts and dealers
  • Train customers and installation shops on Avidyne systems
  • Represent Avidyne at industry events as a subject matter expert
Requirements
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience leading avionics installation and troubleshooting operations
  • Certification or degree in a related technical field preferred
  • Working knowledge of general aviation avionics architecture, including flight management systems, integrated flight displays, GPS navigation, autopilots, and communication systems
  • Working knowledge of TSO standards, FAA regulations governing avionics installations, and aircraft certification requirements under Part 23 and Part 43
  • Skill in reading avionics wiring diagrams, installation drawings, interface control documents, and aircraft maintenance manuals
  • Skill in using test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes to validate system performance
  • Ability to mentor engineers at varying skill levels
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams during installations
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to customers, dealers, and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to travel to customer sites nationwide
  • Ability to work in challenging physical environments, including small aircraft cockpits and confined spaces
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate with Inspection Authorization (IA) helpful to have
  • Private Pilot certificate or higher with instrument rating helpful to have
  • Experience leading Avidyne avionics installations helpful to have
  • Experience with competitive avionics platforms from Garmin, Honeywell, or Collins Aerospace helpful to have
  • Experience working with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) or participating in supplemental type certificate (STC) development activities helpful to have
  • Experience supporting OEM production line installations or as a factory liaison engineer helpful to have
  • Familiarity with Cirrus, Piper, Cessna, Beechcraft, and Mooney aircraft platforms helpful to have
  • Experience with CAN bus protocols, ARINC 429 data bus architecture, or RS-232/RS-422 serial communication standards helpful to have
  • Background in electronics repair, component-level troubleshooting, or avionics bench repair helpful to have
  • Certification in IPC-620 cable and wire harness assembly standards helpful to have
