Job title: Avionics Multi Core Systems Engineer
Location: Remote
Position: Contract & Permanent
Note: Candidate has to travel once a while Melbourne FL
VERY MANDATORY experience of AC-20-193 (previously CAST-32A) Multi-core processor experience is also mandatory, along with relevant hardware development experience.
Job Description:
- Perform multi-core analysis aligned with AC 20 193 guidance on a multi core system.
- Develop or execute micro benchmarks/benchmarks on the target multi core system.
- Analyze system performance and undesired behavior caused by hardware or software interference and drive mitigation solutions.
Required Skills
- Experience with multi core processor products in safety-critical environments.
- Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) experience in safety critical environments.
- Embedded hardware development and verification experience.
- Experience or knowledge of AC 20 193 (previously CAST 32A).
- Experience defining hardware interference channels.
- Must possess at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field and 5 years of progressive experience as a Systems Engineer or related role.
- In the alternative, must possess at least a master's degree or its equivalent in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or related role would be acceptable.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Embedded system design and verification experience.
- Experience analyzing system behaviour and performance impacts in multi core architectures.
- Background developing benchmarks or micro benchmarks for embedded systems to test and analyze a multi-core platform.
- Must possess at least 3 years of experience with experience with safety-critical development standards, including:
DO-178C, DO-254, DO-297, AC20-193, or ARP

. - Experience with FAA CAST-32A objectives, including investigation of multi-core interference channels, documentation and analysis of results, as well as methods to support independent third party certification
- Avionics systems are currently undergoing a transition from single core processor architectures to multiple core (multi-core) processors.
- This transition enables a reduction in size, weight and power (SWaP) and the use of common processing platforms, providing multiple potential benefits for programs in terms of reduced costs, spares management and obsolescence.
- However, avionics hardware and software certification policies and guidance are evolving as research and experience is gained with creating certification evidence for multi-core processor architectures.
