Double Tree Suites by Hilton Melbourne Beach Oceanfront is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join a growing team. In this role, you will perform protective and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner to maintain a safe and secure environment.

This description is a summary of primary responsibilities and qualifications. The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Spend majority of shift on foot patrol, walking and climbing stairs of the interior and perimeter of the hotel to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions.
  • Create reports on all activities during each shift and incident reports as necessary.
  • Communicate verbally using pager and two-way radio; perform CPR as required, including bending, stooping and kneeling.
  • Maintain order in the hotel, assist guests with issues such as door lock problems, and coordinate expeditious response to emergencies such as fires or hazards in a calm, rational and persuasive manner. Address undesired conduct, policy violations, and civil laws as warranted for safety of guests, employees, patrons and property. Include the ability to grasp, lift, carry or move persons, packages, luggage, wheelchairs and safety equipment using manual dexterity.
  • Answer safety calls and respond in a timely manner based on priority.
  • Use a clear, concise English-speaking voice; listen with empathy; provide accurate information and document incident information legibly.
  • Memorize and monitor life safety systems installed at the property, including building layout, alarm pull stations, fire extinguishers and sprinklers.
  • Escort guests and employees as required to parking areas and assist with transporting items as needed.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and follow safety and security rules.
  • Know department fire prevention and emergency procedures and utilize protective equipment as required.
  • Report unsafe conditions and incidents to management; maintain a safe work environment by following safety and security procedures and rules.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance as outlined in the team member handbook.
  • Perform any related duties as requested by management.

The Hotel may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience providing the knowledge, skills and abilities cited below.

  • Education
    :
    Any combination of education and experience equal to graduation from high school; high school diploma preferred.
  • Building Knowledge
    :
    Thorough knowledge of the building layout, function rooms, and some knowledge of the city and surrounding areas.
  • Customer Service
    :
    Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, showing patience, tact and diplomacy as needed to defuse anger and obtain accurate information.
  • Communication
    :
    Ability to listen effectively, speak, read and write English clearly to ascertain and document important information.
  • Work Style
    :
    Able to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain flexibility and efficiency, and keep a pleasant demeanor.
Physical Demands
  • Standard Loads: Must regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 to 50 lbs.
  • Heavy Loads: May occasionally exert up to 50 lbs of force when moving heavy equipment, large appliances, or furniture.
  • Cart Assistance: Moving tool carts, hauling heavy trash, or pulling supply carts may require pushing/pulling weights with wheeled assistance.
Mobility & Posture
  • Continuous Movement: Near-constant standing and walking throughout large multi-story buildings.
  • Stair Climbing: Frequently walking and carrying heavy items up and down stairwells.
  • Awkward Positions: Continuous bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and crawling into restrictive spaces (e.g., under sinks, inside ceiling tiles, or narrow utility closets).
  • Reaching: Regular overhead reaching to service light fixtures, ceiling fans, and high wall-mounted A/C units.
