Role Overview

As a Loan Processor III at our Melbourne Headquarters location, you will be responsible for Home Equity and HELOC loans originated through the Express Services function and ensure timely closings to exceed member expectations and support all sales efforts of the Express Services staff.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares the loan for closing and ensures all closing documents are correct and accurate and are in compliance with government and credit union regulations.
  • Ensures that loan approval stipulations are met prior to loan closing, and that third‑party requests are transmitted and received in order to meet established time standards.
  • Resolves member problems, obtains information, researches records, follows up on details, assesses member needs timely and efficiently, and reports the results to the inquiring party to develop and sustain profitable member relationships.
  • Orders documentation from the borrower or external sources that are needed to facilitate a loan decision, including income and asset documentation, appraisals, title work, etc.
  • Reviews asset documentation to ensure assets are sourced and seasoned per program guidelines and the borrower has sufficient funds to close the transaction.
  • Reviews appraisal and ensures it meets loan guidelines and compliance.
  • Boards completed loans and disburses funds to member and/or creditors as necessary.
  • Answers incoming calls, assists applicants with questions about loan files in process; or redirects the caller to appropriate staff in other areas of the department or the Credit Union.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and adheres to all regulations, policies, procedures and standards that pertain to this position.
  • Capable of handling a pipeline of 30‑50 loan files, with an average processing time to approval that meets current department goals.
  • Communicates with borrower regarding documentation required, file progress, closing arrangements, etc.
  • Adheres to established productivity and loan quality standards to meet quality service standards.
  • Supports the sales efforts of all Express Services team members by providing the member with appropriate product and service materials to enhance the overall SCCU cooperative/member relationship.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.

  • Consistently demonstrates self‑motivation and independent problem‑solving skills, requiring only minimal direct supervision, to maximize individual productivity and efficiency and attain member satisfaction. Proposes enhancements to work methods or procedures to improve process efficiency and/or the quality of results.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or completion of specialized course study or equivalent experience.
  • 1 to 3 years of prior processing experience in consumer loan products or mortgage loan processing experience, closer, or underwriter with an emphasis on conventional loan products.
  • Bilingual preferred.

  • Monday – Friday: 10:00 – 19:00
  • Rotating Saturdays: 09:00 – 15:00
