About the Internship Program
The City of Gainesville offers paid internship opportunities in various departments, including Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs;
Human Resources;
Police Department;
Fire Rescue;
Office of Management & Budget;
Finance;

Marketing & Communication; and Public Works. Internships range from one to twelve months.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited>
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- Undergraduate interns: $10.01 per hour.
- Graduate interns: $13.34 per hour.
- Flexible schedule.
- Professional networking.
- Hands‑on experience in public service.
- Examinations, interviews, assessment centers, and practical skills evaluations may be required.
- Drug and credit checks; background checks conducted on all new hires.
- A valid Florida driver’s license with a good driving record may be required for certain positions.
