POSITION SUMMARY

Provide and ensure patients receive whole care in all aspects of an office visit, including intake, test results, screenings, labs, medication administration, and closure of care gaps. Deliver excellent customer service to patients/families and other care providers, focusing on patient‑centered care.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accurately prepare and perform point‑of‑care testing such as urine dipstick, blood glucose, etc. Perform clinical intake to include vital signs, medical history, surgical history, social history, and verification of patient’s current medications.
  • Prepare and administer medications as ordered by provider utilizing the “6 Rights” of Medication Administration, including documentation and coding. Controlled substances, insulin, and allergy doses must be checked by an LPN, RN, or provider.
  • Assist in stocking, ordering of supplies, and maintenance of equipment, coordinating medical supply ordering with site manager.
  • Prepare patients for examination and ensure pre‑work is available for provider as directed, including notes, diagnostic test results, and imaging.
  • Prepare and perform point‑of‑care testing and/or specimen collection as directed by provider.
  • Track and communicate results to patients, labs, and diagnostic studies via phone calls, portal messages, or EMR buckets. Communicate abnormal findings to providers and complete accurate documentation.
  • Follow safety processes and policies, including infection prevention procedures, maintaining a clean environment and equipment. Document adverse events, infection control, and quality control measures as required.
  • Maintain patient flow after check‑in and discuss flow with physician according to urgency and daily patient load. Ability to assist more than one provider at a time.
  • May provide coverage in other areas of the medical group or office to support departmental needs, including patient registration, payment collections, checkout, and appointment scheduling.
  • Comply with all office policy and procedures, OSHA Standards, and HIPAA Privacy Regulations.
  • Answer internal and external customer phone calls and direct messages to the appropriate individuals. Ensure all documentation is complete and documented in the Electronic Medical Record. Act as a liaison between support services and other clinical divisions.
  • Provide customer follow‑up and education to ensure participation in care and show respect for their needs. Adjust communications to meet patient needs, expectations, age, culture, and individual differences.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical Diploma in Medical Assisting.
  • Experience: None required; related clinical experience in lieu of education: additional six (6) months or more in related clinical experience.
  • Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification from one of the following accredited organizations:
    American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologist (AMT), National Health career Association (NHA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP).
  • Licensure: None.
  • Background Check: If hired into Memory Disorder Clinic or Health First Aging, satisfy State of Florida, Agency for Healthcare Administration (ACHA) Level 2 background screening.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must be able to pass color‑blind testing to perform point‑of‑care tests requiring color change. Strong customer service skills. Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to assist more than one provider at a time.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
  • May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
