POSITION SUMMARY
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist operates MRI equipment to capture detailed images for diagnostic evaluation. The MRI Technologist ensures customer/patient safety and comfort, follows established imaging protocols, and maintains compliance with regulatory standards, while collaborating with healthcare teams to produce high-quality scans for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Responsibilities- Maintains a safe environment with the operation of high field strength magnets and related equipment for customers/patients, coworkers, and self by adhering to MRI safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Properly screens patients for MRI safety and effectively documents and communicates pertinent and required information pre- and post-procedure performance.
- Positions patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with department safety procedures and protocols.
- Produces images consistent with image quality standards and evaluates MR scans for technical quality.
- Properly identifies, prepares and administers medications that are within the MRI Technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Maintains flexibility, adapts to changes in workflow processes and the needs of the organization based upon fluctuations in patient volume.
- Communicates effectively with customers (patients, LP, other associates, the public, etc.) with strong customer relation skills.
- Follows all Federal, State and Regional healthcare regulations and adheres to Joint Commission/ACR standards.
- Provides orientation and education for new technologists and assists radiologists in developing new protocols and MR imaging techniques.
- Education: Graduate of one of the following programs: ARRT Accredited Program, ARMRIT accredited programs or schools, JRCNMT Program, or JRC-DMS Sonography Program.
- Work Experience:
None - Licensure: General Radiographer licensure in the State of Florida.
- Certification: ARRT (R) or ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT or ARRT (N) or NMTCB or ARRT (S) or ARDMS, or equivalent.
- Additional: American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider card prior to start date and maintained. Must become certified in ARMRIT or ARRT (MR) within two (2) years of start date.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Ability to report to applicable Health First facility within 30 minutes when on call; ability to work safely in a magnetic environment; ability to work effectively in a stressful environment and respond to life-threatening situations; demonstrates time management, critical thinking, and coordination of scheduling and patient flow.
- Work Experience:
Prior MRI experience. - Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Physically agile; requires walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching for most of the shift.
- Heavy work that frequently includes lifting or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more with or without assistance.
- May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or overhead.
- May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the shift.
- Potential exposure to varied environments, including extreme temperatures, contaminants, moisture, or biohazards; may require compliance with OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- May operate manual and motorized equipment for transporting materials; may be exposed to noise or vibration and restricted work positions.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination required for task performance.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined; may require travel to facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
