POSITION SUMMARY
The Health First Medical Group (HFMG) Patient Service Specialist is tasked with connecting with new patients referred to the practice, ensuring all patient intake forms are completed, and scheduling the new patient for their office visit and any treatment.
PRIMARYACCOUNTABILITIES
- Schedules and pre-registers all modalities at HFMG facilities by phone, fax, and electronic orders.
- Ensures all information is complete, legible and correctly signed by physician or required scripts prior to scheduling procedures.
- Verifies patient insurance information obtained on all patient accounts containing insurance information.
- Engages in phone calls with patients about the following: referral for services, verifying responsible party and review of insurance coverage to attain consent to treat.
- Provides superior customer service by leveraging HF I-CARE Values.
- Delivers registration and other job accountabilities to meet all patient and family needs and accommodations.
- Maintains successful relations with other Patient Business Services (PBS) areas, Health First Associates and provider offices.
- Offers and delivers financial counseling to patients and families, including but not limited to price estimates and quotes, point of service collections – copays, deductibles and coinsurance.
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. - Work Experience:
Two (2) years or more experience in a medical office environment. - Licensure:
None. - Certification:
None. - Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Strong customer service skills including service recovery techniques, medical terminology, along with proficient typing skills. - Extremely organized and efficient with outstanding attention to detail.
- Working in multiple healthcare application systems:
Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), iKnowMed, Aria, EPIC, etc.
- Education:
Associate’s degree in relevant field. - Work Experience:
Previous experience working in at least three (3) different clinical specialty practice settings.
- Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping.
- Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
- Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined; on-site.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond the county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
