Job Title

Audiology Technician

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Triaging patients to an audiologist based on complexity of the procedures being completed.
  • Patient set up for procedures (e.g. vestibular, neurodiagnostic procedures).
  • Patient instruction and counseling on hearing loss, hearing protection, or hearing aids either on an individual basis or in a group setting.
  • Conducting hearing Puretone air-conduction testing without interpretation for the purpose of hearing conservation and for established patients in regular VA clinic.
  • Immittance screening without interpretation.
  • Non-diagnostic otoscopy, taking earmold impressions, hearing aid troubleshooting and repair.
  • Providing basic hearing aid information for patients and caregivers, performing listening checks on hearing aids, electroacoustic analysis of devices.
  • Pairing hearing aids and accessories via Bluetooth technology, programming previously stored settings into hearing aids, completing adjustments to hearing aid settings as outlined specifically in the audiologist's plan of care.
  • Activating remote controls.
  • Training of employees and patients on personal hearing protection devices.
  • Prepare the equipment for patient evaluations (both face to face and virtual care/telehealth for any audiology appointments or procedures).
  • Set up and deliver a wide variety of face-to-face and telehealth/virtual visits (including synchronous and asynchronous).
  • Ensuring timely and accurate documentation of all interactions in the medical records and that all encounters are correctly documented using electronic medical record and computerized tracking and ordering functions via ROES.
  • Responsible for the direct training, management and supervision of medical center volunteers within the Audiology section as needed, any audiologist assistant receiving practical experience from an affiliated university, and any other health technicians or any audiology students as directed by their supervisor.

Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 7:00 am - 5:30 pm
