Sr. Director of Technology
We are seeking a senior technical leader to serve as the Enterprise Design Authority and lead the Innovation & Technology organization.
What You’ll Do- Own the enterprise architecture strategy across application, integration, data, infrastructure, and security domains. Establish and enforce architecture standards, patterns, and technology decisions across value streams.
- Lead the architecture review process through a tiered model, focusing on significant design decisions and cross-domain strategy.
- Oversee the Director of Engineering Enablement and engineering functions including Principal Engineers, Tech Leads, Dev Ops/Platform, SRE/Observability, and UX. Set engineering standards and ensure consistent execution.
- Serve as the primary technical counterpart to vendor’s Senior Delivery Lead, ensuring quality and performance expectations and managing architecture resources from strategic partners.
- Drive the architecture redesign and microservice decomposition strategy, defining handoff standards for new microservices and ensuring A/B failover design.
- Build and retain deep system knowledge within the teams, documenting, cross‑training, and knowledge sharing to reduce single‑points‑of‑failure.
- Own the long‑term infrastructure diversification strategy, ensuring disaster recovery capabilities meet RTO business requirements.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field;
Master’s preferred. - Minimum 8+ years in software engineering/architecture roles, with 3+ years in technical leadership.
- Proven track record leading enterprise architecture for complex, multi‑system environments.
- Experience managing onshore and distributed teams in a dedicated or strategic partnership model.
- Deep expertise in application architecture, API/integration design, data architecture, and cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred).
- Experience with microservice architecture, event‑driven design, and monolith decomposition strategies.
- Strong understanding of insurance or financial services technology (rating engines, policy administration, claims, billing).
- Experience establishing architecture review boards, ADR processes, and design governance frameworks.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on technical credibility.
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts for executives.
- Experience with CI/CD, Dev Ops, SRE, and observability preferred.
