Job Description:
The Senior Service Now Developer is responsible for interpreting business and technical requirements into scalable Service Now solutions. This person owns the detailed design of platform configurations and integrations across multiple modules, ensuring adherence to Service Now and enterprise architectural standards. The candidate partners with stakeholders, process owners, the software development team, and system administrators to deliver platform-aligned, secure solutions.
Essential Functions:
- Analyze business processes and translate requirements into effective, scalable Service Now solutions.
- Lead fit-gap assessments to determine when to use out-of-box capabilities vs. custom development.
- Define technical solution designs, data models, and configuration standards in alignment with platform architecture.
- Collaborate with Service Now Developers to validate that build activities meet design intent and performance expectations.
- Guide module configuration, workflow design, integration planning, and data migration efforts.
- Serve as a key liaison between the Service Now Platform Team, Security, and the Software Development organization to ensure architectural consistency.
- Support end-to-end delivery lifecycle including backlog refinement, sprint planning, user story creation, testing, and deployment preparation.
- Participate in CAB and release readiness reviews.
- Maintain technical documentation, design diagrams, and architectural decision records.
- Mentor other Service Now professionals; promote adherence to best practices and security guidelines.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional
Skills:
- 5+ years of Service Now experience with multiple implementations and module exposure.
- Deep understanding of the Service Now platform, data model, and core architecture.
- Ability to design and communicate complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with scripting and Service Now development concepts (able to assess feasibility and review code).
- Experience with integrations, automation, and CMDB/data relationships.
- Strong collaboration skills — effectively partners with business, security, and software teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead solution workshops and influence design decisions.
- Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- Service Now Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in multiple modules (ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, or Sec Ops)
- Service Now Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- Additional Service Now Advanced Certifications (e.g., Architect, Discovery, Integration Hub)
