Underwriter, Insurance Analyst
Provide administration and operational assistance to Underwriting team including preparing, reviewing, organizing and maintaining policy documentation required for all risks. Invoice policies, coordinate the service of new and renewal accounts from the time of binding and throughout policy period according to Company guidelines and anticipate/prevent issues and problems as necessary. Provides high-quality professional service to Agents and Companies
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Setting up new and renewal files at binding, verifying all required documentation is received and properly filed.
- Perform accurate data entry and policy information updates in underwriting systems and databases.
- Provide necessary instruction to Underwriting Clerks and Policy Typists for invoicing and policy issuance.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of policy data/reports provided. Process per established guidelines.
- Coordinate with underwriters, agents, carriers, and other partners to obtain required information, resolve disputes, and answer questions.
- Prepare/distribute reports as required by carriers or underwriters.
- Underwrite new and renewal business with minimal supervision of an underwriter.
- Review and process policy servicing requests (endorsement, audits, Company requests, requests for verification of coverage for claims, Certificates, Premium Finance Notices and Cancellations, etc.). Ensure all are properly received, invoiced and distributed as required.
- Evaluate policies, endorsements, audits, cancellations, etc., resolve any discrepancies and make changes as needed.
- Produce cancellation and non-renewal notices according to statutory and contractual requirements.
- Maintain pending/suspense system per established procedures.
- Maintain account files in accordance with company policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- College degree with a concentration in business or equivalent work experience
- One year of wholesale insurance experience
- State specific Insurance License required
- Underwriting Clerk experience or three years of general insurance experience
- Must be able to understand and analyze necessary components of insurance policies
- Must have knowledge of commercial multi-line underwriting and rating
- Must have ability to use company automation to include Windows, Delphi, Word, Docu Corp, and Rackley ISO Rating Software
- Ability to develop, foster, and maintain an excellent working relationship with clients
- Ability to work in a team environment essential
- Maintain current knowledge of the insurance industry
- Good written and verbal skills
- Ability to work extended hours when necessary
