Widerman Malek, PL is seeking an Elder Law Assistant to join our team in our Melbourne, Florida office. This position supports a busy elder law practice, assisting attorneys with matters related to estate planning, probate, trust, and guardianship. The role is well-suited for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced legal environment.

The position is ideal for an elder law assistant with experience in guardianship, probate, trust, and estate-related matters who is seeking meaningful responsibility and long-term growth opportunities. Experience with guardianship and/or elder law matters is highly valued but not required. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Candidates with two or more years of experience in elder law are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include:
  • Demonstrating strong organizational, communication, and detail-oriented support skills, including managing case files, deadlines, and electronic docketing systems
  • Preparing, reviewing, and finalizing pleadings, motions/petitions, discovery, inventories, accountings, and related legal documents
  • Supporting attorneys with matters from inception through resolution
  • Communicating with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals
  • Scheduling hearings, depositions, mediations, and court appearances
  • Filing documents with the court and coordinating with clerks’ offices
  • Assisting with trial preparation and evidentiary hearings as needed
  • Ensure compliance with Florida guardianship statutes and court deadlines
  • Enter billable and non-billable administrative time spent on matters
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience, preferably in guardianship, probate, trust, estate, and/or elder law matters
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
  • Professional communication skills and a client-focused approach
  • Experience with court filings and legal support
