Job Responsibilities
- Understand a complex system with a laser path containing optics, mirrors, and beam splitters.
- Experience with energy detectors, beam analyzers, oscilloscopes, and autocollimators.
- Understand fundamental optics principles and inspect optics for surface quality defects.
- Provide routine technical support to engineers and scientists on standard components, devices, material, products, processes, and equipment.
- Test, modify, rework, repair, and build electronic, optical, or mechanical assemblies.
- Work from wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications, and sketches.
- Design and/or test prototype assemblies and production units.
- Perform related manufacturing processes.
- Interpret and follow documents such as SOPs and safety rules.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements, including state and federal regulations and applicable certifications.
- Interface with other departments to assure efficient flow of information and materials.
- Meet production deadlines, quality of finished product, raw material stock levels, and compliance outcomes.
- Coordinate several activities simultaneously and reprioritize in response to changing operational conditions.
- Read and develop wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansions, and direct personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties.
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
- Strong decision‑making and leadership skills.
- Experience handling small delicate components with ESD practices.
- Soldering and wire bonding experience a plus.
- Experience with safe handling of chemicals.
- Experience with computer applications including Access, Excel, and LabVIEW.
- Experience with MRP a plus.
- Good hand and eye coordination.
U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
