Patient Flow Administrator
To be fully engaged in providing superior quality, competitive value and outstanding service by serving as a resource to all associates as the administrative representative for hospital-wide management and decision-making in the absence of administrative personnel, assuming a leadership role in emergent and/or disaster situations. The Patient Flow Administrator enhances communication and interaction of the various units and ensures appropriate, safe and timely problem-solving interventions on all shifts in order to provide continuity of service and optimum patient-centered care.
Maintains professionalism and positive customer relations in all circumstances possessing integrity, focus, commitment, flexibility, diplomacy, and team spirit as a representative of administration.
Ensures patient and staff safety including utilization of appropriate infection control precautions.
Demonstrates knowledge and working expertise to ensure compliance with all relevant policies, standards and regulations including but not limited to medical staff by-laws, risk management, and administrative (i.e., substance abuse, employee/visitor/patient injuries, disaster situations, infection control, etc.) as appropriate.
Effectively utilizes hospital computer systems (Teletracking, SCM, Hospital IQ) to identify opportunities for improving throughput and promoting efficient patient centered care.
Oversees ADT procedures of the facility to ensure accurate, safe, and timely patient placement utilizing the hospital's bed tracking system.
Makes hospital rounds to evaluate needs for patient placement and acts as central contact for decisions related to bed management during the shift of assignment.
Identifies system issues within the organization based on data and assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, which address operational efficiencies in the hospital.
Assess the overall status of the hospital and effectively collaborate with charge nurses, nurse managers, nursing directors, and other departments to appropriately allocate available staff for the current and oncoming shift after review of staffing and patient care needs and develops overcapacity plans as needed.
Intervenes and provides follow-up and written communication on risk-related issues in collaboration with directors, managers and charge nurses as appropriate.
Leads the development, implementation, and continual improvement of patient flow by escalating barriers and actively participating on committees and in quality improvement activities, striving to achieve organization benchmarks for throughput.
Establishes and directs plan for placement on all admission and transfers concurrently and prospectively; performs as clinical liaison in support of the Transfer Center (HRMC).
Creates bed capacity for incoming patients by facilitating Table Top and Escalation Rounds to identify patients appropriate for discharge and escalates discharge barriers appropriately.
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
BSN required OR Conditional and time limited waiver for BSN requirement may apply to internal associates who complete their BSN within 3 years of transition to new role OR external candidates may apply who are currently enrolled in a BSN program to complete within 3 years of hire.
Current RN license to practice in the state of Florida.
Must hold current American Heart Association ACLS and BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
Minimum three (3) years nursing in acute hospital setting is required.
Effective leadership ability and management skills
Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently.
Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance.
May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over head.
