Assistant Nurse Operations Manager

The Assistant Nurse Operations Manager (ANOM) is responsible for the management of their designated unit/department, including nursing practice and administrative oversight of the area. In conjunction with the Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager, the ANOM provides guidance and direction on all aspects of unit operations including customer experience, budgetary performance, human resources activities, shared leadership, and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities include shared 24/7 accountability with the Nursing Operations Manager, participating in the recruitment and selection of new team members, coordinating with the Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager and Human Resources on corrective actions, investigating event reports, overseeing schedules for the unit, maintaining oversight of patient flow, performing nurse leader rounds and reviews, participating in process/quality improvement initiatives, ensuring the customer experience is upheld, interfacing with patients and families, participating and/or leading staff meetings, demonstrating ownership of unit and outcomes, performing direct patient care activities, possessing excellent interpersonal skills, ensuring incident reports are completed appropriately, maintaining compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures, expressing ideas clearly and effectively, advocating on behalf of the nursing staff, implementing strategies that promote education, health, and safety, fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, demonstrating collaborative and collegial relationship skills, role modeling professional behaviors, promoting a safe working environment, managing various human resources functions, assisting with the clinical evaluation of team members, ensuring compliance with certifications, licenses, and required education, influencing team members to enhance their abilities, supporting the Professional Practice Model values, monitoring compliance and outcomes, leading the team on process/quality improvement initiatives, managing time and resources efficiently, promoting cost effective management of equipment and supplies, participating in activities that promote personal and professional growth and development, maintaining active membership in a professional organization, and upholding ethical standards of practice.

Qualifications include a Bachelor in Nursing Degree (BSN) or a Bachelor in Nursing (BSN) with a Graduate degree in Business or health-related field preferred, Masters in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred, 2 years as a Registered Nurse in an acute setting required, current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) required, current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, and may require one or more of the following certifications based on the assigned patient population:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required, Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required.
