The lab focuses on understanding the cellular and molecularmechanisms of gravitropism and phototropism. We use a variety ofphysiological, developmental, and molecular approaches in ourground-based and spaceflight research. The successful candidate will be responsible for ground-based and post-flight experimentsfor a project conducted on the International Space Station. Theperson may need to travel to NASA sites for flight activities.
Image analysis of growth and development, as well as genomicstudies, will also be performed. Participation in the supervision of undergraduate students is expected. She/he will also participate in writing reports and manuscripts. Some of the desired skills andareas of expertise include bioinformatics, plant physiology, andgravitational and space biology.
- Perform physiological, developmental, and molecularexperiments
- Perform ground-based and post-flight experiments related tospace experiments
- Image analysis of growth and development, as well as genomicstudies
- Supervision of undergraduate students
- Day-to-day management of the laboratory
- Attend and present at conferences
- Writing reports and manuscripts
- Ph.D. in biology, life sciences, or a related field
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience required in the area of expertise
