Quality Lab Technician

The Quality Lab Technician is primarily responsible for performing laboratory testing and maintaining records according to established standards.

Essential duties/responsibilities/functions:

  • Conduct HPLC analysis.
  • Conduct physical and chemical analysis.
  • Conduct IR analysis.
  • Conduct UV/VIS analysis.
  • Conduct sampling of raw material and finish product.
  • Conduct laboratory equipment checks.
  • Monitor temperature, humidity, cleaning, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain raw material log and storage.
  • Maintain finish product storage system.
  • Maintain adequate lab supplies, order and stock.
  • Maintain lab environment: including clean and maintain work area, load and unload washer, keep environment clean and ready for use.
  • Operate Laboratory Autoclave.
  • Operate Rapid Micro System.
  • Maintain agar and broth supply for microbiology.
  • Follow all company safety and security procedures.
  • Use and wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Marginal job functions:

  • Assist with gathering information for audits/inspections.
  • Maintain lab database, create analysis, lab reports and spreadsheets.
  • Maintain finished product label system.
  • Maintain accurate filing of all laboratory records.

Qualifications & skills required to perform job duties:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of chemistry including common lab procedures such as microscopy, spectroscopy, chromatography and chemical separation.
  • Proficient in basic analytical techniques and skills required for the preparation of samples for analysis.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  • Ability to execute technically sound experiments and to gather, analyze and present data, conclusions and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interface at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to accurately convey results in lab reports.
  • Strong self-initiative and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient typing skills and computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and email.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic, customer service orientation and passion for accuracy.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work cross functionally with various departments and disciplines.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Education and/or experience required to perform job duties:

  • Associates degree in chemistry or other scientific discipline or a minimum of 6 years work experience in laboratory testing.
