Position Summary
The Security Manager is responsible for administrative and operational functions for the Security Department at Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital, a 119‑bed acute care facility.

- Manage the security staff, develop policies and procedures, set goals and objectives, and provide administrative direction
- Recruit, interview, screen, select, and schedule employees for the department
- Develop coaching plans to evaluate employee performance and ensure continuity of the department
- Meet with direct‑reporting staff to review performance and progress and take corrective action when necessary
- Coordinate departmental process improvement activities, liaison with the Process Improvement Team
- Ensure employees receive appropriate training and that all training, licensure and certifications are properly documented
- Assist in preparing and implementing the departmental budget
- Work with the Sr Director of Security, Emergency Preparedness and hospital administration to develop crime‑prevention strategies for each campus
- Supervise the police officers assigned to the Emergency Department, if applicable
- Manage various personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans and disciplinary actions
- Maintain punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and applicable federal, state and local standards
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
- Assist in attaining financial goals for areas of responsibility
- Establish and meet critical success factors for areas of responsibility
- Stay informed of evolving technology related to crime prevention, access control and CCTV
- Promote Orlando Health culture, values and commitment to excellence
- Maximize customer satisfaction
- Direct departmental activities in the absence of the Sr. Director of Security
- Exhibit the highest degree of trust and integrity in all functions
- Develop and oversee departmental and organizational security training
- Oversee the departmental website to ensure content is current
- Conduct investigations as needed
- Perform all other duties assigned
Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in security management, criminal justice, public safety, homeland security or related field
- Associate degree plus five (5) years of experience in a security related field, including supervisory experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a security related field, including supervisory experience
Licensure/Certification:
- Valid Florida driver’s license with no more than six points
- At least 21 years of age and insurable under Orlando Health insurance carrier’s requirements and standards
- Ability to obtain applicable IAHSS certifications
Experience:
- Five (5) years of law enforcement, U.S. military service or security experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience
- Or a total of eight (8) years of experience in a security related field, including supervisory experience
Preferred Experience:
Hospital security leadership experience.
