Description

Commercial HVAC Sheet Metal Duct Superintendent I is responsible for maintaining an open, positive, and professional line of communication with customers, vendors, general contractors, internal customers, and trade partners. The HVAC Superintendent supervises employees and maintains a safe working environment compliant with government regulatory guidelines and OSHA Safety regulations on multiple projects simultaneously. This position requires travel.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure site compliance with OSHA regulations and RBS Safety protocols.
  • Manage and schedule installation of HVAC material and equipment.
  • Maintain consistent contact and coordination with General Contractors to monitor installation dates.
  • Request and coordinate HVAC material and equipment needs with purchasing department.
  • Coordinate delivery of material and equipment to the job site.
  • Check equipment lists to ensure material is correct.
  • Keep project status up to date for timely delivery.
  • Lay out crews for scheduled installation dates.
  • Attend and participate in GC meetings.
  • Conduct weekly inspections and safety meetings; provide signed safety forms to General Contractor and RBS Safety team.
  • Walk the job site constantly to follow up with Foreman and installers.
  • Schedule and direct quality control technician daily, maintaining communication to keep schedule.
  • Identify problems requiring correction and conduct quality control inspections personally.
  • Follow up on all purchase orders and/or extra work; track deliveries and materials on site.
  • Maintain open and positive communication with Trade Partners.
  • Manage Sub‑contractors, ensuring work meets contract and company requirements.
  • Stay up to date with all RBS Policies and Procedures, industry standards, and government regulations.
  • Available via telephone after hours and on weekends for emergency and/or customer‑related issues.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience running commercial or healthcare projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, HVAC systems, project schedules, submittals, and job specifications.
  • Open availability to travel, work after hours, and work overtime.
  • Proficiency and knowledge of air duct distribution systems for commercial and industrial applications; knowledge of relevant building codes, legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Clean driving record, reliable transportation, and required insurance coverage.
  • Installation of HVAC materials, equipment, and appropriately matched systems.
  • Cooperative working with other trades.
  • Team building skills.
  • Analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Effective verbal, presentation, and listening communication skills.
  • Effective negotiation and mediation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365 and custom accounting software.
  • Time management and stress management skills.
  • Mathematical aptitude.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and able to complete Form I‑9 upon hire.
  • Employment subject to E‑Verify confirmation.
  • Ability to travel to multiple construction sites within the U.S. and present acceptable identification for security or travel purposes.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to meet job‑site access requirements.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.
  • 10 plus years of experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Talk or hear, both in person and by telephone.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or controls.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds.
