Position Overview

Fire Rescue Department – Fire Operations. Position Type:
Permanent;
Full Time. Open Until Filled.

Hourly rate: $26.14. Salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Location:

Central Area/Cocoa/Travels Countywide.

Work schedule:

Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must work planned and unplanned overtime, call‑backs, and on‑call duty on a rotating basis.

Performs skilled crafts and trades work in the maintenance and repair of diesel and gasoline Fire Rescue vehicles and related equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pumping, and drivetrain systems and components.

• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience working on diesel and gasoline equipment, including two (2) years in heavy equipment and fire pump mechanics. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
• Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's license and maintain it throughout employment.
• ASE and EVT certifications are preferred.
• In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man‑made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

• LIFT: 50 lbs. or more.

• PULL: 50 lbs. or more.
• In an eight‑hour day may have to stand, walk, sit, and drive for 5–8 hours.
• Fine manipulation (writing, wiring); operating foot controls; pulling; pushing; simple grasping.
• Balance; bend; climb; crawl; dig; jump; kneel; reach; run; smell; stoop.
• Color perception; good distant and near vision; good hearing and speech; use of both eyes.
