Installation Technician, General Labor
Job Summary
As a Journeyman Installer, you’ll be responsible for the physical installation, integration, and testing of IT and facility infrastructure components at Patrick SFB. You will perform hands‑on installation of structured cabling, racks, power systems, network equipment, and supporting hardware, ensuring all work meets specifications, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities- Assists engineers and technicians with placement of infrastructure components and pre‑configuration.
- Performs tasks involving physical labor at installation sites to aid daily operations.
- Assists in the movement of equipment, racks, boxes, and pallets.
- Assists in cleanup and restoration of facilities to pre‑install conditions; disposes of waste materials.
- Performs site preparation and implementation activities required to implement approved ISP/OSP solution.
- Assists in the installation of ISP/OSP cabling, racks/cabinets, and equipment.
- Follows processes and procedures provided by management or lead engineers.
- May assist in test and validation activities as directed; performs cable dressing, labeling, and documentation.
- Assists in restoration activities to return site to previous condition before project work.
- Applies fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments.
- Tracks task status to provide updates to management or lead engineers.
- Updates reports or task logs as directed; performs work under supervision but can work independently on complex assignments and may provide guidance to junior laborers or technicians.
- Proficient in reading and understanding schematics, blueprints, and AutoCAD drawings, including rack elevation drawings and floor plans to install data‑network equipment hardware, power supplies, UPS, and wireless access points.
- Proficient with writing reports and updating data in MS Excel and Word.
Office and outside environments with potential support of austere locations.
Physical ActivitiesMust be able to lift/carry 75 lbs.
Qualifications Education and Certifications- High School Diploma
- 5 years of experience holding a High School Diploma.
- Experience supporting large, complex network modernizations.
- This position requires an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (Tier
3) level clearance.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and AutoCAD drawings, specifically rack elevation drawings and floor plans for data‑network equipment hardware, power supplies, UPS, and wireless access points.
- Proficient with writing reports and updating data in MS Excel and Word.
