Position Description
Torque by Ryder is immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Mid‑Level Mobile Automotive Technician to support our truck fleet in Melbourne, FL.
Pay and Schedule- Hourly Pay: up to $32.00 per hour based on experience
- Retention Bonus: $2,000 paid every quarter within the first year
- Schedule:
Flexible 40‑hour work week (weekend premiums apply) - Fuel card and company cell phone provided
- Mobile technicians receive a service‑vehicle

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or professional diploma preferred
- Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience
- Non‑Commercial Driver License CLASS E
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
- State driver’s license as required
- Ability to understand and adhere to company policies, build professional relationships at all levels, work independently and as part of a team, demonstrate customer service skills, and communicate effectively
- Proficiency in preventive maintenance (PM230 & PM298) and brakes‑air (BA220 & BA298) within 90 days of hire
- Brake mechanics/inspectors FMCS 396.25 certification
- Hydraulic brake (BH220 & BH298) where applicable within 90 days
- Tire & wheel TW220 within 90 days
- CF609 & A/C trained and qualified (AC220 & AC298) within 180 days
- HD electrical (DR208) within 90 days
- SVC Island Support SBTIII trained (SBT
220) and SBT Phase 2 within 180 days - Minimum of two OEM online engine courses
- Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check (including motor‑vehicle records and previous employer verification for the last three years)
- Diagnose, repair, inspect, and perform preventive maintenance for non‑contractual customers
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance (tune‑ups, oil changes, tire changes, fuel filter changes, fluid checks, alignments, basic suspension replacement, light and mirror replacements)
- Assist or receive guidance from higher‑grade specialists in diagnosing and repairing components such as alternators, starters, radiators, injectors, transmissions, and other fuel components
- Conduct basic diagnostics and hydraulic brake inspections, repairs, and replacements
- Operate from a mobile maintenance vehicle and travel to customer yards within the assigned region
- Maintain knowledge of Torque products and services
- Represent Torque/Ryder to establish customer relationships
- Document work orders, customer repair authorizations, and repair notes within Salesforce
- Perform environmental duties such as site inspections, clean‑ups/disposals, and handling vehicle chemicals with guidance
- Adhere to all federal, regional, and corporate compliance guidelines
- Complete other duties as assigned
