Harris is seeking a Field Technician to join our team and assist in the installation and maintenance of complex communications systems at FAA facilities. The technician will perform a variety of duties in the electronic and/or electromechanical areas. Assists in the removal, construction, test and check‑out of the fielded system. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with communications equipment, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Works from and understands schematics, operating or repair manuals, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
- Remove, install, configure, and test communications equipment and supporting infrastructure at various FAA facilities.
- Perform system troubleshooting and repair activities to ensure optimal operation of operational system.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret and implement installation drawings and specifications.
- Support site surveys to assess installation requirements and plan logistics.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety guidelines, protocols, and regulatory standards.
- Document all installation, repair, and maintenance activities accurately and thoroughly.
- Travel extensively to various FAA facilities as required by project assignments for 3‑5 month durations.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Ability to obtain an FAA Public Trust clearance or a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post‑secondary/associate's degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- Experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical electronics systems.
- Proficiency with a variety of tools and equipment involved in communications systems installation.
- Problem‑solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working on the Voice Switching and Control System.
- Experience working on projects for the FAA or other federal agencies.
- Certification in relevant telecommunications fields (e.g., CompTIA Network+, ETA International).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
