Diesel Mechanic
Performs skilled crafts and trades work in the maintenance and repair of diesel and/or gasoline vehicles and light equipment.
Requirements:
Two (2) years of experience in automotive or diesel mechanics OR have assisted in the repair of automotive or diesel vehicles as a General Repair Technician for one (1) year. Successful completion of course work in automotive or diesel mechanics or closely related field at a post-secondary school may be substituted on a year for year basis for a maximum of one year (1,080 class hours [1 school year] = 1 year of experience;
120 class hours = 1 month of experience). Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Special requirements:
Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess certification in, or proof of successful completion of, "Heating and Air Conditioning" from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (NASE) to service motor vehicle A/C systems. Requires the following ASE certifications: A1 - Engine Repair A5 - Brakes A7 - Air Conditioning In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or manmade disaster which may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
