We're looking for a reliable, hands-on Mechanic in Training to support the maintenance and troubleshooting of collection system infrastructure — including sewer lines, manholes, and lift stations. You'll work alongside experienced technicians, gain hands-on utility experience, respond to emergency situations, and help keep critical utility systems operating safely and efficiently.

What you'll do

  • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on utility systems — hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical components, and mechanical equipment
  • Repair and maintain sewer lines, manholes, and lift stations
  • Operate equipment for manhole rehabilitation and collection system maintenance
  • Assist with sewer line and manhole inspections including CCTV inspection system operation and maintenance
  • Record daily equipment and process readings; perform data entry and recordkeeping
  • Monitor inventory of parts, supplies, chemicals, and degreasers
  • Clean and maintain facility buildings and grounds; repair yards following maintenance procedures
  • Respond to customer complaints and emergency situations
  • Occasionally assist in locating utility lines
  • Support Asset Management and Maintenance Programs
  • Follow all safety, operating, and emergency response procedures at all times

What you need

  • High school diploma or GED and 1 year of skilled utilities field experience — or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Reliable and dependable attendance — essential function of the role
  • Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods in adverse weather conditions
  • Flexibility for extended shifts to meet seasonal collection system demands
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to following established procedures
