Mechanic In Training (Mit) – Utilities

We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined individual to join our team as a Mechanic in Training (MIT) – Utilities in West Melbourne, FL. The Mechanic in Training (MIT) offers an excellent opportunity to develop foundational skills in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, and electrical diagnostics within a manufacturing environment. The role involves supporting the maintenance and troubleshooting of utility systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical components, and mechanical equipment.

Candidates will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced technicians while contributing to the efficient operation of our facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the maintenance and troubleshooting of utility systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical components, and mechanical equipment
  • Gaining hands-on experience working alongside experienced technicians while contributing to the efficient operation of our facility
  • Performing all routine, preventive and corrective maintenance assignments that are assigned to by the project's preventive and corrective maintenance and repair program
  • Performing all work in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures
  • Performing all work to produce an end result which meets all goals and objectives set by project management
  • Operating equipment for the rehabilitation of manholes and maintenance of the collection system
  • Responding to and resolving customer complaints
  • Performing record keeping/data entry
  • Recording daily reading of equipment and processes
  • Cleaning and maintaining facilities buildings and grounds
  • Repairing yards following maintenance procedures
  • Monitoring inventory of parts supplies and chemicals/degreaser
  • Communicating with co-workers on processes and job activities
  • Assisting in the inspection processes of sewer lines and manholes
  • Assisting in the maintenance and operations of the CCTV inspection system
  • Occasionally assisting in the location of utility lines
  • Assisting in Asset Management and Maintenance Programs Repairs and maintain sewer lines, manholes and lift stations
  • Responding to emergency situations
  • Schedule:

    Monday – Friday, Flexibility and extended shifts to meet the seasonal demands of the collection system
  • Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position
  • Candidate may be required to perform manual labor for extended periods occasionally in adverse weather conditions

Here's what you'll need:

  • High school diploma or GED and 1 year of skilled utilities field experience; or An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules, including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations
  • Possess a valid driver's license with no major infractions

Competitive hourly rate based on relevant experience and background.

Posted Salary Range:
Minimum $47,840.00 to Upper $52,000.00
