Seeking a Structured Cabling Technician for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Melbourne, FL.
Pay: $23-$30/hr based on experience
Responsibilities- Pull, route, support, dress, label, and terminate Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.
- Install patch panels, jacks, racks, cabinets, J-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, and related pathway hardware.
- Perform basic copper testing and assist with certification and fiber testing as trained.
- Follow drawings, cable schedules, labeling plans, and instructions from the lead installer.
- Keep cable routing neat and follow company standards for support, separation, bend radius, and fire stopping.
- Update labels, test records, material notes, and as-built markups.
- Use tools, ladders, lifts, and test equipment safely and correctly.
- Keep the work area clean, protect the customer's property, and help manage tools and materials.
- Communicate progress, material needs, and job-site issues to the lead installer or project manager.
- 2+ years of structured cabling, low-voltage, telecommunications, or similar field experience.
- Hands-on experience pulling, dressing, labeling, and terminating copper cabling.
- Basic knowledge of Cat6/Cat6A, patch panels, keystone jacks, racks, J-hooks, and cable tray.
- Ability to read basic floor plans, cable schedules, labels, and written instructions.
- A safety-first mindset, attention to detail, and pride in clean workmanship.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a crew.
- Comfort using a mobile device and apps such as Teams or Outlook for field communication.
- A valid Florida driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass background checks required for government and other controlled-access sites.
- Flexibility for occasional early starts, overtime, evenings, or weekend work when projects require it.
- BICSI Installer 1 or progress toward a BICSI credential.
- Experience with Cat6A, fiber optic cabling, Fluke testing equipment, or commercial telecom rooms.
- Experience on commercial, healthcare, education, government, or DoD projects.
- Exposure to access control, video surveillance, audio/video, or public safety DAS systems.
