Position

Principal Embedded & Real Time Software Engineer – Melbourne, FL.

In this role you will design, develop, integrate and test software for our end‑user customers and businesses. You will be responsible for the design, architecture, development, and administration of embedded and real‑time systems. You will work with multi‑disciplinary teams—Systems Engineering, Test Automation, Dev Sec Ops , and Systems Test—in an Agile software development environment. You will analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.

Functions
  • Work in a fast‑paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels.
  • Participate in the full software development life cycle, including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products to our customers.
  • Operate in an embedded technology development environment working with real‑time operating systems for use in flight and safety‑critical systems.
  • Work in Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple software baselines.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related experience; OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related experience; OR PhD with 1 year of related experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience developing software and scripts in C, Object‑Oriented C++, AND/OR Python for safety‑critical applications/systems within the last 2 years.
  • Demonstrated professional experience architecting, designing, modeling, implementing, maintaining, integrating, debugging, verifying, and qualifying safety‑critical embedded real‑time software written in OO C++ running on real‑time operating systems such as VxWorks, Integrity, AND/OR Real‑time Embedded Linux within the last 1 year.
  • Demonstrated professional experience with static and dynamic code analysis tools and fuzzing tools such as Coverity, Sonar Qube, AND/OR Fortify within the last 1 year.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (PAR).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers to develop and maintain complex software systems.
  • Recent demonstrated professional experience with DOORS AND/OR software requirement specification testing using simulators, automated scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, AND/OR Bash.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
