Principal Engineer Software – Embedded & Real‑Time (Melbourne, FL)
Position:
Principal Engineer Software – Embedded & Real‑Time within Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems. This role involves designing, developing, integrating, and testing embedded real‑time software for end‑user customers and businesses.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels.
- Participate in the full software development life cycle including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products to customers.
- Operate in an embedded technology development environment working with real‑time operating systems for use in flight and safety‑critical systems.
- Work in Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple software baselines.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of related experience; OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related experience; OR PhD with 1 year of related experience.
- Demonstrated professional experience developing software and scripts in C, Object‑Oriented C++, and/or Python for safety‑critical applications/systems within the last 2 years.
- Demonstrated professional experience architecting, designing, modeling, implementing, maintaining, integrating, debugging, verifying, and qualifying safety‑critical embedded real‑time software written in OO C++ running on real‑time operating systems such as VxWorks, Integrity, and/or Real‑Time Embedded Linux within the last 1 year.
- Demonstrated professional experience with static and dynamic code analysis tools and fuzzing tools such as Coverity, Sonar Qube, and/or Fortify within the last 1 year.
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (PAR).
- Ability to collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers to develop and maintain complex software systems.
- Recent demonstrated professional experience with DOORS and/or software requirement specification testing using simulators, automated scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, and/or Bash.
Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 – $. The range represents a general guideline; however, the company considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position and candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay.
