Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Software Engineer II to help with the design, documentation, development, debug, and test of real‑time embedded software for Surveillance and Communications Avionics Products, such as aircraft collision avoidance systems (ACAS), Transponders, ADS-B In/Out Systems and SATCOM Systems. The position will be an onsite role located in Melbourne, Florida. This is a software engineering position with a focus on the full lifecycle development, integration, and test of new and existing avionics systems.

What

You Will Do
  • Contribute to software engineering requirements capture and analysis in area of domain expertise.
  • Design, code, integrate, and test embedded software of moderate complexity.
  • Generate and maintain software documentation for the software lifecycle artifacts (planning, high and low‑level requirements, architecture and design, verification test cases/procedures/results).
  • Develop knowledge with a primary emphasis on taking technical ownership of one or more components within a system.
  • Understand major Collins Aerospace processes related to software development and apply them to current project.
  • Participate in cross‑functional team efforts in definition, integration, verification, and validation of products and sub‑systems of moderate complexity.
  • Able to clearly summarize encountered technical software issues to project leadership in a timely fashion.
  • Able to work with moderate oversight from leadership. Individual job duties may vary.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Experience in full lifecycle software development process from requirements through verification and validation.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with embedded software development.
  • Experience in DO-178B/C processes (or similar safety‑critical software development guidelines) is a plus.

Additional Information

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD.
