DescriptionPrincipal Engineer Software or Sr. Principal Engineer Software to support the Global Surveillance Division, based in Melbourne, Florida. The role involves full software life cycles and advanced mission support in tactical applications for the warfighter.
Responsibilities- Deploying, automating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving software infrastructure and systems.
- Hands‑on technical experience with a can‑do approach to environment automation and management and continuous improvements.
- Act as a team member in an agile development process, responsible for the design and implementation of application builds, releases, deployments, and configuration activities.
- Work with internal business partners to gather requirements, prototype, and architect complex solutions supporting build and test plan execution.
- Perform quality reviews, triage and fix operational issues, and assist with integration, troubleshooting, and testing of implemented software changes.
- Develop, modify, and maintain customized or standardized applications using best practices, participating in the full life‑cycle of software development.
- Take ownership of hard problems, drive solutions, provide technical leadership, and analyze large data sets with automated testing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited university.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience for Principal Engineer Software, 8+ years for Senior Principal Engineer Software.
- 5+ years (Principal) or 8+ years (Senior) of experience developing with C/C++ or other object‑oriented languages.
- 5+ years (Principal) or 8+ years (Senior) of experience through the software life‑cycle in a Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu or other distribution) or Windows environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- US citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and special program access.
- 8+ years of experience developing software and software tests within the Linux environment.
- Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite with add-ons like Git and Confluence.
- Familiarity with Agile software development process.
- Full software development life‑cycle experience.
- Experience with formal software test and weapon system evaluations.
- Current holder of special program access.
Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 – $
Secondary Level Salary Range: $ – $
