Position Overview

The Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) Global Surveillance division is looking for Senior Principal Engineer Software to join our software team. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida and will require 50% travel.

Responsibilities
  • Full lifecycle design, implementation, and unit testing of software
  • Work with various team members to integrate functionality with other software components
  • Ability to lead a team and/or provide leadership to drive solutions of complex problems
  • Gather and report software metrics
  • Ensure software best practices
  • Develop software products from all phases of the software lifecycle
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 or more years of experience in software engineering OR a Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 7 or more years of experience in software engineering or a PhD with 4 or more years software engineering experience.
  • Clearance:
    Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Top Secret Clearance. Interim clearance is required to start. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain special program access as a condition of continued employment.
  • Demonstrated delivery of products in C/C++ or other OOP languages in a Windows and Linux environment.
  • Demonstrated integration and debugging skills
  • Able to travel 50% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong IRAD or other experimentation contract experience
  • Communication skills in clearly explaining and documenting system behavior and post-event reporting
  • Excellent ability to work under pressure, strong IRAD experience.
  • Ability to plan, self-execute and adapt in high pressure situations
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
  • Experience with large Defense contractor programs and ability to work across program and IPT lines
  • Knowledge of supplier management and ability to drive results from sub-contractors
  • Experience with Integration and field installation in Software Integration Labs
  • Experience with Hardware in the Loop environments for simulation
Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $ - $. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
