Job Description Summary
Verantwortlich für das Entwerfen, Entwickeln und Testen von Embedded Software (Firmware), Plattformen und Systemen, die Geräte steuern sowie auf Geräten ausgeführt wird, die auf die
Anforderungen der Hardware zugeschnitten werden müssen, die gesteuert und ausgeführt werden soll (d. h. die die Echtzeitfunktionen physischer Geräte wie Motoren, Lichtmaschinen, Triebwerken, Ventilen, Lüftern sowie anderer Geräte und Produkte direkt steuern). Erfordert in der Regel ein tiefes Verständnis der Eigenschaften des zu steuernden physischen Geräts, der zu erwartenden Echtzeitfunktionen, sowie die Fähigkeit, die zur Realisierung der Echtzeitfunktionalität erforderliche Logik und Software zu entwerfen, zu entwickeln, zu implementieren und zu testen.
Normalerweise zugeschnitten auf Produkte und Dienstleistungen in verschiedenen Gewinn- und Verlustrechnungen. Beeinflusst den Abteilungsbetrieb und ist verantwortlich für die Planung/Ausführung.
Die Rolle hat eine gewisse Autonomie, konzentriert sich jedoch auf die Ausführung von Aktivitäten innerhalb einer operativen Disziplin, die durch funktionale Standardpraktiken und
-verfahren abgedeckt wird.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy edge-native software components for decentralized sensing, control, and autonomous grid operations
- Engineer fault-tolerant data synchronization and concurrency control across distributed edge environments
- Build federated data pipelines enabling distributed nodes to collaborate securely without central coordination
- Integrate field data sources including SCADA, PMUs, and DER controllers
- Implement IoT protocols and networks such as LoRa, MQTT, DNP3, and Modbus
- Bridge the gap between simulation environments and live grid operations
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities and federated control frameworks into next‑generation grid platforms
- Contribute to digital twin design using graph‑based and physics‑informed modeling
- Support experimentation and prototyping at customer test sites and simulation environments
- Work closely with data scientists, control engineers, infrastructure specialists, and customers
- Collaborate with systems engineers to align software with physical grid systems
- Partner with product teams to rapidly turn ideas into validated, scalable solutions
Critical Technical skills and Experience Requirements
- Strong skills in script writing using MATLAB, Go, Rust, Python (backend/edge) and HTML, CSS, TypeScript/React or Angular(UI).
- Deep
Experience with Kubernetes/K3s, Kafka/NATS, MQTT, gRPC, Pulsar
InfluxDB/TimescaleDB, and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana). - Work Experience with Digital Twin / Simulation modeling: OpenFMB, Modelica, graph‑based modeling) and AI/ML model algorithms.
- Hands‑on work with AI/ML models in production environments.
- Work experience federated architectures, and resilient edge software applied to with Transmission and distribution applications.
Preferred Background
- Master’s degree electrical engineering or computer science with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the power industry
- Minimum 3+ years of hands‑on experience in building real‑time simulation platforms
- Deep knowledge in SW engineering with experience in advanced Automation, federated data processing.
- Experience of Power System modeling and simulation tools such as EM‑T platforms (e.g. PSCAD,RTDS, Opal‑RT).
- Track record of building, shipping, and scaling complex software systems.
- Exposure to grid operations, DER management, and industrial IoT environments.
- Experience with real‑time or cyber‑physical systems where latency and reliability are key.
- Familiarity with grid standards or protocols (e.g., IEEE 2030.5, IEC 61850, OpenFMB) is a strong plus.
- Experience with digital twin modeling frameworks (Modelica, OpenFMB, graph‑based)
