Job OverviewNorthrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Engineer Software – Embedded & Real Time in Melbourne, FL, to design, develop, integrate, and test software for end‑user customers. The role focuses on embedded and real‑time systems and is performed in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded real‑time software for safety‑critical flight and system applications.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, qualification, delivery).
- Operate in an embedded environment using real‑time operating systems such as VxWorks, Integrity or Real‑time Embedded Linux.
- Work in Agile Scrum teams to deliver products across multiple software baselines.
- Analyze system capabilities to resolve problems related to program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Test Automation, Dev Sec Ops and Systems Test teams.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with at least 2 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with no experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing software and scripts in C, object‑oriented C++ and/or Python for safety‑critical applications within the past 2 years.
- Experience architecting, designing, modeling, implementing, maintaining, integrating, debugging, verifying, and qualifying safety‑critical embedded real‑time software in OOP C++ on real‑time operating systems within the past year.
- Experience with static and dynamic code analysis tools and fuzzing tools such as Coverity, Sonar Qube, or Fortify within the past year.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (PAR) clearance.
- Ability to collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers on complex software systems.
- Recent experience with DOORS or software requirement specification testing using simulators and automated scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, or Bash.
Primary salary range: $79,300 to $118,900 annually. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off for vacation.
