Job Overview$23.86 to $26.25 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Melbourne/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Performs experienced technical work in the Traffic Operations Signal section. Work involves maintenance and electrical work on traffic system components; maintaining the warehouse inventory; shipping and receiving operations as a signal warehouse technician; and working with and being cross‑trained by the Traffic Signal Systems technical staff.
In addition, this position may respond to and document requests from Sunshine State On‑Call of Florida (SSOCOF) to locate and mark the County’s underground facilities relating to traffic signalization and street lights.
- Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and/or repair of electrical, electronic, or mechanical equipment or components plus one (1) year of warehouse experience that includes working in a computerized inventory management system;
- Or two (2) years of experience as a current Brevard County Traffic Operations employee.
- Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver’s license and maintain said license during the term of employment.
- Must be able to successfully complete, within six (6) months of employment, an OSHA‑compliant forklift training class, which meets the requirements of 29 CFR and be able to safely operate a forklift.
- Must possess, or obtain within eighteen (18) months of employment, an International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level I Traffic Signal Technician certification.
- Must possess, or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment.
- In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man‑made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
