Responsibilities
- Develop 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings of turbo machinery components such as steam turbine valve components, seals and turbine blades for production and design using Solid Works or equivalent software.
- Create manufacturing drawings from reverse‑engineered components to meet original specifications.
- Perform onsite and in‑field 3‑D scanning and manual reverse engineering of new and service components to support customer power plant maintenance and operability.
- Review and validate engineering drawings for accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with customer, industry, and company standards.
- Collaborate with drafters to maintain drawing quality and compliance with revisions and specifications.
- Provide engineering support for manufacturing of critical components such as valves, blades, rotors, diaphragms, and fasteners.
- Recommend design modifications where applicable to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce cost.
- Lead and support engineering efforts for new and existing projects across multiple industries.
- Collaborate with sales, estimating, operations, quality, and procurement teams to ensure successful project completion.
- Review customer purchase orders for technical requirements and ensure compliance.
- Provide support to project management activities as needed, such as planning and coordination.
- Support the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Track and report KPIs, milestones, and deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain documentation and records in accordance with company and industry standards.
- Promote and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Support Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions for non‑conformances and product failures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across departments.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and interns, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
- Occasional travel (up to 15%) to other company facilities, customer sites, and vendor locations.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
- 5 to 8 years of experience supporting turbo machinery with a focus on industrial and power generation stream turbines or an industrial manufacturing facility.
- Proficiency in Solid Works required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, form‑fit‑function, and manufacturing processes including traditional milling and turning, non‑traditional EDM, water jet, etc.
- Basic knowledge of metallurgy, material selection, heat treatments.
- Basic knowledge of non‑destructive inspection and testing techniques.
- Machinist background is a plus.
- Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack‑up analysis, and BOM management.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Epicor or IFS preferred).
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
