Field Sales Executive - Chicago, IL
Location: Based in Chicago, IL and surrounding territories.
About the RoleAs a Field Sales Executive at Maersk, you’ll be part of a high‑performing team driving business expansion and revenue growth. We seek elite sales professionals who can leverage Maersk’s global footprint and extensive logistics network to deliver world‑class solutions, making a tangible impact on customers’ supply chains.
Your efforts will focus on retaining and growing existing clients and onboarding new clients monthly. A hunter mentality is a must. You’ll work collaboratively with local, national, and international teams to implement services and solutions for your clients and support Maersk’s growth goals.
Key initiatives include growing our specialized LTL market share, positioning our B2B and B2C services from economy to white‑glove service. The sales team also cross‑sell products such as LCL, FCL, international air freight, customs brokerage, and FTL.
Essential Functions- Build market position by locating, developing, defining, and closing new business; arrange daily business development meetings with existing and prospective clients
- Become a subject matter expert on Maersk products and services and remain up‑to‑date on industry related news
- Meet weekly with local operations management and develop close, cooperative relationships with operations staff to ensure customer needs and company objectives are met
- Develop a growth strategy and set quotas focused on financial gain and profitability to meet ambitious revenue targets
- Follow up with new clients and operations to ensure seamless implementation when onboarding
- Perform market research to continually identify new pipeline opportunities; present and demonstrate the value of products and services to prospective buyers
- Utilize Salesforce to build a customer database of key information, maintain an active pipeline, measure KPIs, and identify trends to improve win probability and forecasting accuracy
- Exceed all assigned revenue goals and corporate pricing objectives
- 4+ years of proven sales success in logistics, freight forwarding, specialized freight, or ground transportation
- Results‑driven mindset with a track record of exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth
- Highly organized and proactive, capable of managing multiple client interactions efficiently
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to develop solutions for complex supply chain challenges
- Expertise in using Salesforce for managing pipelines and tracking performance
- Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; must have a high school degree or equivalent
Daily local travel to visit clients. 1 or 2 meetings yearly with overnight travel.
Compensation$80,000 - $100,000 USD*
CommissionWe offer an aggressive commission plan paid quarterly based on gross profit performance. No cap. $500 car allowance.
