Melrose Public Works is a fast-paced, service-driven department with varied and evolving priorities. We are seeking an experienced and adaptable City Engineer who thrives in a dynamic municipal environment. The successful candidate will effectively manage in-house staff and outside consultants, maintain strong public relations, and communicate professionally and diplomatically with residents, elected officials, businesses, and state and federal agencies.

• Lead the Engineering Division under the Director of Public Works.
• Oversee planning, design, and construction of roadway and utility infrastructure projects.
• Manage grants, contracts, vendors, and personnel.
• Serve as the City’s liaison to boards and commissions.
• Support short- and long-range planning initiatives.

• Massachusetts PE license and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 5–7 years of municipal experience and 12–15 years of professional engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and GIS systems.
