Cap Front is a data-driven commercial finance company providing capital to small and mid-sized businesses. We operate lending programs and participation funds supported by disciplined underwriting, strong portfolio performance, and institutional capital partners.

As we continue to scale, we are expanding our in-house finance team and are seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting.

Role Overview

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for executing core accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting monthly and quarterly close processes.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accountant who wants hands-on exposure to lending operations, commissions, and syndication accounting
, and who is comfortable working cross-functionally to ensure data accuracy across sales, operations, and finance.

This position is based in-office in Melville, Long Island and works closely with the finance team and internal stakeholders.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform daily bookkeeping and maintain accurate general ledger records.
  • Execute daily bank reconciliations
    , investigate discrepancies, and ensure cash activity is properly recorded.
  • Record and reconcile transactions related to lending activity, fees, and operating expenses.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close
    , including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable
  • Manage accounts receivable
    , including invoicing, cash application, and collections support.
  • Process accounts payable
    , including vendor payments, expense tracking, and approvals.
Fees, Commissions & Payments
  • Work closely with the sales team to ensure fees are calculated, recorded, and processed accurately and on time.
  • Prepare commission reports and support monthly commission calculations and payouts.
  • Reconcile commissions and fees to source systems and resolve discrepancies prior to payment.
Syndication Accounting
  • Maintain syndication fund accounting
    , including lender-level and participant-level tracking
    .
  • Reconcile syndication cash flows, allocations, and payment schedules.
  • Support accurate internal and external reporting related to participation activity.
Lending Operations Support
  • Partner with the operations team to ensure all lines of credit (LOC) draws and related activity are properly entered and reflected in accounting records.
  • Reconcile lending activity to system data and cash movements.
Reconciliations, Reporting & Process Improvement
  • Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations
    , including bank, loan, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with preparation of internal financial reporting and schedules for leadership and external partners.
  • Support audits, reviews, and information requests as needed.
  • Help develop, document, and improve accounting processes and internal controls as the company scales.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience (lending, financial services, or fintech experience a plus).
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial reporting fundamentals
    .
  • Experience working cross-functionally with sales or operations teams.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
  • Experience with Sales Force and Quickbooks
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, in-office environment with accountability.
  • Base Salary: $70,000 – $90,000 (depending on experience)
  • Performance Bonus: Discretionary bonus tied to accuracy, reliability, and close performance
