Job Summary

The Assistant Controller will play a vital role in managing the financial operations of our company. Working closely with the Controller and finance team, the Assistant Controller will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, support budgeting and forecasting processes, and maintain strong internal controls. The position is based fully on‑site at our Melville office, Monday‑Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the annual budget and periodic forecasting.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather data, analyze variances, and provide financial insights for decision‑making.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets, mitigate financial risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Analyze financial data, perform variance analysis, and prepare financial reports to highlight key performance indicators.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management based on the analysis.
  • Participate in audits, both internal and external, and coordinate responses to audit inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial reporting standards, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Manage the Billings department; preserve the timeliness and accuracy guidelines for the department.
  • Evaluate and enhance financial systems and processes to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance accuracy in financial reporting.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience with corporate/payroll tax handling.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced and evolving environment.
