Credit Analyst, Underwriter, Loan Officer / Lending, Risk Manager/Analyst
Reliance Motor Credit is a consumer auto finance lender specializing in serving customers that traditional lenders often overlook including ITIN, thin-file, and subprime-credit borrowers, as well as applicants with non-traditional income. We are looking for a Credit Analyst / Relationship Manager to join our team in Melville, NY. This is a hybrid credit-and-relationship role: you will underwrite indirect consumer auto loan applications submitted by our dealer partners while serving as a point of contact for a portfolio of those dealers.
The right candidate combines sharp credit judgment with the interpersonal skills to build dealer loyalty and grow application volume.
- Review, analyze, and underwrite indirect consumer auto loan applications within your delegated credit authority, with a focus on ITIN, thin-file, subprime, and non-traditional-income borrowers.
- Evaluate creditworthiness using both traditional and alternative data — credit bureau reports, bank statements, and cash-flow analysis for self-employed, 1099, and cash-income applicants.
- Structure deals (advance, term, rate, down payment, and stipulations) to balance portfolio risk with dealer approval and capture rates.
- Serve as a point of contact for our dealer partners — responding quickly to pending deals, negotiating structure, and communicating decisions clearly.
- Build and maintain strong dealer relationships to grow application volume, look-to-book ratios, and overall funded loan production.
- Verify income, employment, and residency; validate stipulations; and identify potential fraud or misrepresentation on non-traditional documentation.
- Meet or exceed decision turnaround, approval, and funding targets while maintaining credit quality.
- Ensure every decision complies with federal and state lending regulations (ECOA/Reg B, FCRA, UDAAP) and internal credit policy.
- Partner with funding, sales and operations to move deals from application to funding.
- Monitor portfolio and dealer performance, and provide feedback to help dealers submit stronger, more fundable applications.
- 3-5 years of experience in auto finance, indirect lending, or consumer credit underwriting.
- Hands-on experience underwriting subprime, ITIN, thin-file, and/or non-traditional-income applicants is strongly preferred.
- Strong credit analysis skills, including the ability to assess cash flow and income from bank statements and alternative documentation.
- Demonstrated relationship-management or dealer-facing experience, with the ability to balance sales growth against sound credit decisions.
- Comfort making sound decisions under time pressure in a high-volume environment.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field — or equivalent work experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, given our customer base.
You’ll play a direct role in expanding access to credit for hardworking customers who are underserved by mainstream lenders, while working alongside a team that knows this niche well.
