The Therapy Center for Children is composed of experienced pediatric physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and special educators, offering services for children aged 0-21. Based in Melville, NY, the Center features a state-of-the-art sensory gym, including the South Paw Sensory House, providing a safe and enriching space for therapy. Approved by the New York State Department of Health, the Center offers Early Intervention and preschool services, adhering to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for school-aged children.
These services are provided at no out-of-pocket cost for eligible families, with additional private pay sessions and most commercial insurance accepted.
This is a part-time, on-site role for an Occupational Therapist based in Melville, NY. The Occupational Therapist will work with children ranging from infancy to 21 years old, providing therapeutic interventions in a sensory-based facility or home-based settings. Responsibilities include assessing children’s needs, developing and implementing treatment plans, collaborating with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members, and documenting progress to align with each child's therapy goals.
Qualifications- Proficiency in Occupational Therapy, including evaluation and intervention techniques
- Knowledge of Pediatrics, Rehabilitation, and child development
- Strong Communication skills to effectively work with children, families, and team members
- Licensure as an Occupational Therapist in New York State
- Background or experience in evaluating and treating sensory processing disorders is a plus
- Experience in working with children with special needs or developmental delays is highly desirable
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP)-based strategies
