Senior Buyer

THIS ROLE WILL BE ONSITE 5 DAYS PER WEEK IN MELVILLE, NY.

• Check and examine purchase requisitions assigned for proper descriptions of items, part numbers, specifications, etc., and place orders in accordance with established policies.
• Establish sources of supply that will ensure reasonable pricing, dependable shipment and reliable quality.
• Expedites, follows up and administers open purchase orders.
• Maintain appropriate files on all orders in process.
• Interview salespeople and vendors and refer descriptive literature to the department concerned.
• Maintain necessary liaison between all departments within the Company and vendors to ensure maximum efficiency.
• Develop new sources of supply both for new and routine materials.
• Coordinate and combine orders of different origins to take advantage of quantity prices.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience, or a Master’s degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior experience, or equivalent.
• 5+ years’ experience in purchasing electronic and electromechanical parts preferably in the RF Commercial Military industry.
• Excellent time‑management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience writing technical specifications and other technical documents.
