Accounting Manager, General Accounting

The General Accounting Manager is a part of the Finance organization and is responsible for executing the period close process for the organization within established timelines, driving process improvements and implementing changes across the Accounting organization.

* Manage and develop staff

* Review journal entries requiring strong accounting and analytical skills to ensure financial reporting complies with US GAAP and company policies

* Oversee the completeness and accuracy of sales transactions in the general ledger

* Manage intercompany accounting including appropriate settlements

* Manage the consolidation of Auto Zone's international entities by coordinating with global finance teams to ensure complete and accurate financial reporting

* Supervise the balance sheet account reconciliation process ensuring compliance with Company policies

* Accommodate internal and external audit requests

* Coordinate efforts to drive process improvements related to functions performed by the General Accounting team

* Other key responsibilities as identified

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with a minimum of eight years related experience or equivalent required; CPA

* Supervisory experience

* Strong procedure development and implementation skills, and demonstrated process improvement ability

* Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills

* Excellent organizational skills: ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks/projects at one time meeting critical deadlines

* Effective communication skills (verbal & written)

* Ability to succeed in a team environment

* Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently

* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
